Seven-day forecast for Seaford with a score for each day
Seven-day forecast for Seaford: score 73, good, with wave, period, swell, wind, gust and temperature tiles

One score you can read, scored for your level.

Every hour of the next seven days gets a score from 0 to 100, built from four parts. Pick Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced and the same swell scores differently. The reasons are written out under the number, and breaks harder than your level are marked down.

30%Size for your level
A two-metre wave is a gift for an advanced surfer and a hazard for a beginner. Size is judged against the level you pick.
30%Wind against the break
Offshore wind combs the face, onshore wind chops it. Wind is read against the way the break faces, and strong gusts count against it.
20%Swell direction
A swell only works if it can reach the break from the right side.
20%Swell period
Longer periods carry more energy and make cleaner, better organised waves.

Check the break before you drive.

Today’s score comes first, then the week. Tabs keep the forecast, the camera, the reviews and the facts about the break apart.

  • A camera picture where the break has one, refreshed every minute.
  • Which way it faces and how hard it is, so you know if it suits you.
  • Reviews from people who surf there.
  • Missing a break? Add it. Every addition is reviewed before it appears.

Where the numbers come from.

Weather data by Open-Meteo.com

Marine and weather models
Wave height, swell period and direction, wind, gusts, air and water temperature and UV, hourly for seven days, from Open-Meteo.
Wave buoys
Live readings from coastal buoys sit next to the models, so you can compare what was forecast with what is out there.
A catalogue that keeps growing
Each break has a location, the direction it faces and a difficulty rating. Surfers add the ones we are missing, and every addition is reviewed before it appears.

A forecast is a model, not a promise. Conditions change fast and local hazards are not in any data feed. Check the flags, talk to the lifeguards and look at the water before you go in.

Which coastlines does it cover?

Australia: 913 breaks across NSW, Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia. We will add more regions over time.

How is the score worked out?

Every hour gets a score from 0 to 100 built from four parts: wave size for your level (30%), wind against the way the break faces (30%), swell direction (20%) and swell period (20%). Breaks that are harder than your level are marked down, and the reasons are written out under the score.
