Terms of service

These terms apply when you use the SurfIQ website and app. By using them you agree to these terms.

Surfing is dangerous

SurfIQ shows forecasts produced by weather and wave models. They can be wrong, they go out of date, and they cannot show local hazards such as rips, rocks, marine life, crowds or closures. The score is a guide to conditions, not advice about whether it is safe for you to surf. You are responsible for judging the conditions yourself, for checking flags and lifeguard advice, and for your own safety.

The beta

SurfIQ is in beta. Features may change or stop working, and we may reset or remove data during the beta. The beta is provided as it is, without promises about availability or accuracy.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details private. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You must be old enough to enter into these terms where you live.

What you post

You keep ownership of the reviews, posts, photos and break submissions you add, and you give us permission to store and show them in SurfIQ. Do not post anything unlawful, abusive or misleading, anything that is not yours to share, or other people’s personal information. We may remove content and accounts that break these rules, and every new break submission is reviewed before it appears.

Acceptable use

Do not attack or overload the service, copy it in bulk, or try to get into accounts or data that are not yours.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, SurfIQ is not liable for loss or injury that results from relying on a forecast or other information in the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Australian Consumer Law that cannot be limited.

Changes

We may update these terms. If you keep using SurfIQ after a change, you accept the new terms. The date at the top shows the latest version.
